MISSOULA, Mont. — Fire officials launched a real time map of Montana detailing current fire restrictions today.
It comes as Montana's DNRC explains fire season started early and indications are we're in for a bad one.
You can check out the new map.
It shows counties already in stage one and stage two fire restrictions.
“Fire restrictions are one of the many fire prevention tools we have available to us. What they do is limit human activities that can cause wildfires. So if you are thinking about campfires or activities that could cause a spark like a combustion motor if you're working outside,” said Kristin Sleeper, Fire Information Officer for DNRC.
The map outlines each restriction and what's allowed and what's not.
It's a group effort headed up by the Northern Rockies Coordination Group as well as collaborating federal, state and local agencies.
Developers say it is the best available information you can use to be safe this summer.
