Montanans do their part to aid in hurricane relief

Red Cross

The American Red Cross in Montana is doing its part in helping with Hurricane Florence. Red Cross volunteer John McGrew said volunteers from Missoula, Great Falls and Billings have already been deployed to the Carolinas.

Although Montana is more than 2,000 miles away from the impact zone of Hurricane Florence, you can still help. McGrew said monetary donations are the simplest, fastest and most helpful ways for you to contribute. To donate, go to redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text FLORENCE to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Another way to help is by donating blood. McGrew said that when people are evacuated from hurricane zones the blood banks have to close as well. The Red Cross is expecting more than 1,400 units of donated blood and platelets to be canceled in the hurricane impacted zone. To make an appointment download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcross.org or call 1-800-733-2767.
