MISSOULA, Mont. — A resident called emergency responders , saying a mountain lion was not leaving the yard of his home Friday morning.
The call came in around 2:30 a.m.
NBC Montana spoke to a deputy on the phone, while he was searching the Bonner-West Riverside area for the mountain lion.
The deputy says officers are looking around the Sunset Pines Court area.
The Missoula County Sheriff's Office wants to alert residents to stay near children and pets, as this is the time of year wildlife may frequent more populated areas.
Deputies also stress this morning that residents need to secure their trash, as they are seeing it draw more bears down into neighborhoods.
