MSU quarterback Chris Murray to miss 2018 season

Montana State University's starting quarterback for both 2016 and 2017, Chris Murray, will forgo the 2018 season in order to focus more on academics, said MSU Head Coach Jeff Choate on Wednesday.

“Chris is obviously an important part of this team,” Choate said, “but everyone that enters this program and this University knows that academics are the top priority. This will be a year for Chris to get his priorities in order and raise his academic work to the standard that MSU and this football program demand,” said Choate.

In 2017, Murray was one of three Big Sky quarterbacks ever to have 1,000 yards rushing in a single season. He had five-100 yard rushing games, and gained 99 vs. UM Grizzlies. He also had a career high passing game of 300 yards during last years season.

Coach Choate specified that the competition for quarterback will take place when the opening of team practice on August 3.
