1 dead in Hungry Horse fire
HUNGRY HORSE, Mont. —
A fire claimed one life and consumed a home in Hungry Horse Wednesday night.
Law enforcement and fire officials said the blaze started before 8 p.m., and the house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived at the scene in the 100-block of First Avenue Northeast.
The body of a 60-year-old woman was found inside the home. Law enforcement is withholding the victim’s name pending positive identification.
Hungry Horse Fire Captain Jared Lako said the fire also spread to a woodshed and several trees next to the home and melted pieces of a car and the vinyl siding of the house next door.
Lako said flames reached up to 40 feet, and firefighters battled the blaze for more than four hours. The fire was extinguished around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire personnel, a news release from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office stated.
