120 acres of newly protected wildlife habitat to be dedicated south of Missoula

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is dedicating wildlife habitat in the Bass Creek area between Missoula and Hamilton today.

The dedication ets underway at 5:00 p.m. at the Larry Creek Campground, south of Florence.

The RMEF says the 120 acres were under threat of development. but are now permanently protected and open to public access thanks to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, the U.S. Forest Service and many other partners.

Supporters say the property is an important winter range for elk and mule deer and is also home to whitetail deer, turkey and other bird and mammal life.
