MISSOULA, Mont. — Soft Landing Missoula says they are receiving an outpouring of support after tweets from Rep. Matt Rosendale voiced opposition to Afghan resettlement in Montana.
On Sept. 16, Rosendale tweeted that he cannot support 75 Afghans resettling in Montana.
Rosendale points to an incomplete vetting process as the reason he opposes the plan.
Soft Landing Missoula executive director Mary Pool says since the tweets they have received more support from the community.
“People reacted to that tweet, and the way they reacted was to give money to Soft Landing, which is amazing. I think it's like such a great example of turning intolerance into generosity,” Poole said.
Soft Landing set up a fund to help support the Afghans coming to Montana. You can find out how to donate here.
