MISSOULA, Mont. — Stevensville Mayor Brandon Dewey tells us this year’s been stressful and unpredictable for the community and council.
He is one of two mayors in the town’s history to face a recall. In Tuesday’s election, 52% of votes came in against it.
On Thursday, two council members resigned. Dewey says that was unexpected.
He says his focus as mayor now is on projects put on the back burner.
“Certainly a relief. We’re eager to get back into business, and certainly with coronavirus and the recall election we had kind of put some projects on the back burner, held those in limbo just to kind of see what happens. We’re eager to get those back and accelerate those a little bit to make up for lost time,” said Dewey.
On Monday, town leaders will discuss replacing the two empty council seats.
