The Belgrade Police Department is still investigating a Sunday morning shooting in Belgrade.

Very little information has been released on the progress of the investigation, despite numerous phone calls to law enforcement officials.

In an initial statement Sunday, Belgrade Police Chief E.J. Clark announced one woman is dead and another remains hospitalized.

Tuesday night the department said in another statement they released a person of interest arrested shortly after the shooting. In that statement the chief recognized the community suffered a terrible tragedy.

Lauren Dewise, the woman who was killed, was 35 years old.

Ashley Van Hemert, 32, underwent surgery on Tuesday and is in critical condition.

Both women were volunteers for Eagle Mount, a Bozeman nonprofit that provides recreational opportunities for people with disabilities.
