UM lands a $700,000 grant from NASA

The University of Montana was awarded a $700,000 grant by NASA.

The W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation will use the funds to develop tools to aid the U.S. Forest Service in reforestation efforts. This includes areas scorched by wildfires.

The goal is to help the U.S. Forest Service to prioritize their efforts by identifying areas where reforestation will likely succeed.

Solomon Debrowski, professor of Landscape Ecology, said the project team will include graduate students, a post-doctoral scholar and computer science experts.
