Murals of Saint Ignatius Church highlight Easter season

In our Montana Moment ,we visit Saint Ignatius Church, where the restoration of its iconic murals is almost completed. Because of the pandemic, parishioners could not attend church physically this Easter. But Father Hightower's celebration of the Mass on this holiest day on the Christian calendar was video taped.

Father C. Hightower compared the isolation many of us are feeling to the Passion of Christ. Although his congregation could not be present in the pews this year, he said, "feeling alone, feeling abandoned. Those are things Christ felt as he made his way to Jerusalem and the cross."

In the summers of 1904 and 1905 Jesuit Brother Carignano painted 58 Biblical murals in Saint Ignatius Church.
