SAN ANTONIO (WOAI/KABB) - The father of missing baby King Jay Davila led investigators to the child's body, in a backpack, buried under a bridge on the city's Northeast Side Friday morning.

The disturbing details surfaced in a new arrest affidavit released Friday morning following an exhaustive weeklong search for the child.

According to the report, King Jay's father Christopher Davila led investigators to a spot under a bridge at the end of a dead-end street in his neighborhood near I-35 and Rittiman Road. There, officers recovered the body of an infant wrapped in a blanket and placed inside a black backpack.

Christopher Davila told investigators he was caring for King Jay while the child's mother was working. In the arrest report, he says he was playing video games on a bed and that King Jay was in a car seat at the edge of the bed, not strapped in.

At some point, King Jay fell forward when the car seat fell off the bed. Christoper stated to police that King Jay's face might have hit the front of a dresser on the way down. He added that he tried to keep King Jay awake and that the baby had a "large bump" over his right eye.

According to the report, Christopher told officers he was afraid to call 911.

He said he checked on King Jay a few hours later and that the child was dead the report states.

The body was removed by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's office. No other details were released regarding the child's death.

As of Friday morning, Christopher Davila remained jailed on a charge of injury to a child. A previous arrest affidavit details what witnesses told police about the case, including one who told investigators he last heard King Jay crying on the night of Jan. 3.

Christopher Davila's mother, Beatrice Sampayo, and his cousin, Angie Torres, are charged with tampering with evidence. Police accused the trio of staging a kidnapping to cover up foul play in the case.

San Antonio police will release more information in the case during a news conference scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday.
