KILLEEN, Texas (KEYE) — Cameron Chamberlain, the wife of missing Army Specialist Craig Chamberlain, has died, according to reports.
KWTX said officials on post confirmed the death on Thursday. The III Armored Corps said it is “deeply saddened” to hear of her death and sent its “deepest condolences to the family and friends of Cameron Chamberlain.”
The cause of her death has not yet been released.
KEYE spoke to Cameron just last week about the disappearance of her husband who was last seen leaving his home in Killeen on May 15. He was reportedly declared AWOL by the Army in March.
He is a very loved person,” Cameron said at the time. “People genuinely have very positive things to say about him. He did tell me that he hated the lifestyle, he hated the leadership of Fort Cavazos. He was not happy being a soldier. He was scared to talk about his mental health.”
Cameron said she believed that is what caused his disappearance, and she blamed it on the leadership at the Fort.
I believe that something terrible may have happened to him,” she said.
No additional information was available regarding Cameron’s death or if it was related to her husband’s disappearance.
Craig is 5 feet 7 inches tall and 156 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes, as well as several tattoos.
Anyone with information on Craig’s whereabouts is urged to contact Fort Cavazos CID at 254-600-3837 or the tip line at 254-600-3837.
