Wood twins win track title for Ennis
Corbin and Tanner Wood were the only two competitors for the Ennis Mustangs at the Class C state meet in Great Falls. Despite the size of the team, the twins combined to win the fourth straight team title for the Ennis boys.
"It is a great feeling," Corbin said. "Fourth year in a row, I could not be happier."
As a duo the Wood twins earned 59 points at the meet with Corbin winning the 100-meter, 200-meter and long jump.
"We have been fighting for it all year," Corbin said. "We have been talking about it all year; we have been pushing towards it all year. The fact that we actually did it is just unbelievable."
Tanner had surgery earlier in the year, but his brother gave him all the encouragement he needed to get back on the track.
"Corbin was like, 'You need to get back. You need to help me win this state title,' so I came back and helped him out as much as I could," Tanner said.
He earned 14 points with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash and a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash.
Both Corbin and Tanner will play football at Dickinson State University next fall.
