MISSOULA, Mont. — In the first meeting between Montana and Montana St. of 2019, both teams walked away with a win.
The girls took the court first. The Lady Grizzlies jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first few minutes, but the Lady Bobcats slowly clawed their way back. Led by Oliania Squires game high 20 points, the Bobcats went into the half up 34-27.
Montana shot just 30 percent from the field, and the Bobcats scored 40 points in the second half to run to a 74-52 victory.
In the prime time men's meeting, both teams came out fighting for every bucket. Montana eventually jumped ahead to a 33-21 lead, but the Cats men's team also made a comeback, with Ladan Ricketts hit a three as the half expired to take the lead.
But the Montana men didn't go cold in the second half. Ahmaad Rorie's 20 points and four three pointers, along with Jamar akoh's 10 second half points, led the Griz to an 83-78 victory.
The next Brawl of the wild is Feb. 23 in Missoula.
