BUTTE, Mont. — The inaugural Montana High School All Class State Baseball Tournament will be taking place later this week in Butte.
The event, featuring eight teams, all from western Montana, will be at Copper Mountain Park from Thursday through Saturday.
The double elimination contest will begin with four quarterfinal contests on Thursday and conclude with the championship game at 1 p.m. on Saturday at 3 Legends Stadium.
The top seeds in the tournament are Belgrade, Whitefish, Polson, and Florence-Carlton. While the other four teams are Butte High, Eureka, Frenchtown and Hamilton.
Twenty-one varsity baseball squads were fielded in Montana this year, a number that is expected to grow in the seasons to come.
