Montana's Colburn named player of the week

Montana senior shortstop Delene Colburn was named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week following her terrific series against Southern Utah.

On the college softball diamond the Montana Grizzlies are back in contention. After a road sweep at Southern Utah over the weekend the Grizzlies are just half a game behind first place Weber State in the Big Sky Conference standings.

On Monday, Montana's leader at the plate over the weekend was selected as the Big Sky player of the week as Delene Colburn earns the honor for the second time this season and the fifth time in her career.

During the sweep of the Thunderbirds, Colburn hit .455 at the plate while driving in five runs and scoring two runs. She also hit her first home run in nearly a month.

So far this season Colburn is ranked top five in the conference for batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, runs batted in, runs scored and home runs.

Montana will get in some extra work this week, as they host a double-header against Carroll College on Wednesday for a break from league action.
