MISSOULA, Mont. — Loyola Sacred Heart senior Katie Fagg has loved golf for as long as she can remember.
“When I was 8, I got my first golf club, and my dad took me to the chipping green and I fell in love,” said Fagg.
Fagg’s passion and drive earned her a full-ride scholarship to Carroll College, something her hitting coach, Mike Trudnowski, got to see first-hand.
“The first time I ever saw her on the green when she was getting ready to putt, you could just tell that the focus was there and so cool to see,” said Trudnowski.
One thing that drives Fagg is having the support from her friends, family and her hitting coach.
“They’re amazing. I wouldn’t be there without them. Ed Bezanson has been my swing coach for three years, and I would definitely not be here without him. He’s sacrificed so much along with my parents, they’re awesome. They’ve given me every opportunity to play in college, and I’m very grateful for that,” said Fagg.
She works extremely hard, and that hasn’t gone unnoticed by those closest to her.
“I’ve coached for years, I’ve taken on probably 12-15 golfers in my lifetime, but someone as motivated as Katie -- once,” said Bezanson, swing coach.
During her signing Fagg thanked her parents who couldn’t be prouder of their daughter.
“We’re so glad to see her doing what she loves, and she’s worked so hard, and it’s just amazing to see,” said Elizabeth Fagg, Katie’s mom.
With a bright future in store for this senior, Fagg will look to continue her hard work as she prepares for life at Carroll College next fall.
