McKayla Haack joined NBC Montana in December 2012. She worked as a producer for four years then left to travel abroad for eight months. She came back to her home and the NBC Montana team as a producer and reporter in July 2017.
As a fifth-generation Montanan she has a deep love for the Treasure State. That passion led her to journalism to keep track of and report on what is happening in her home.
Raised in Havre, she left Montana to run cross country at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Communications with an emphasis in Mass Media and two minors in Religion and Spanish. Her draw to her home state and her large family kept her coming back in the summers to work outside Glacier National Park. She graduated in 2010 then spent a winter working as a ski instructor at Big Sky before life eventually led her to the Missoula area and NBC Montana.
She lives in Frenchtown with her husband and two dogs. Most of her free time is spent hiking, hunting, camping, canoeing and skiing. She also loves a good football game and remains a proud Bobcat fan even while living in Griz territory (but she’s happy to cheer on the Griz when it’s not the Brawl of the Wild).
